Apple's Next-gen MacBook Pro Casing
by Marco Vitanza
From Apple Insider:
Photos that reveal the industrial design of Apple Inc.'s next-generation MacBook Pro notebooks have been making the rounds on the Internet since late last week, AppleInsider has learned.
The photos show a trademark aluminum Apple notebook enclosure that appears slightly thinner than the one employed by the current MacBook Pro. The edges of the casing are also more tapered, somewhat akin to the design of the company's relatively new 13-inch MacBook Air.
I've been thinking of upgrading my (Core Duo) Macbook to a Macbook Pro (and get a free iPod along with it) but there's something about the current design that's slightly unappealing to me. The keyboard looks cramped and old compared to the Macbook's, and the thin screen bezel and aluminum-everywhere look makes me think "unfinished". I've also heard reports of poor wireless performance, thanks to the Faraday-cage-like property of the aluminum surrounding the antenna. I'm looking forward to seeing the new designs, but that probably means after the free-iPod deal expires.
